Friday - tough day. Lots of ups/downs. Didn’t get frustrated though. There was a fish to my left who really just called with garbage - you couldn’t bet enough pre-flop to get him to fold. He’d flop two pair with 63o vs AA for example. Just insane. Anyway, I said, “nh” after each beat so that he’d stick around. Then I purposely played a little loose and paid off on some smaller pots so that I’d appear to be an idiot. I’d mis-type things on purpose and excused myself to go get another beer and delared how much fun the table was. I had everyone there thinking I was completely sh*t-faced. I decided that when I had a monster, I’d keep over-betting the pot - and what-the-hell-do-you-know??? It worked. They all thought I was some kind of idiot and just kept calling down and when I had the goods, they […]

Ok so this is not my first EVER tournament cash, but this is the first decent cash for the Challenge. And what a cash it was, increasing my bankroll by over double and finally having a stack which can play at a higher cash limit (albeit only being 0.05/0.10) it does mean now pots become slightly larger.
Basically, I won the City AM freeroll/$1 rebuy (entering is free, but after going under the starting stack you can choose to buy another 1500 chips for $2, then you have an optional add-on at the end of the rebuy period. Well it didn’t start to well having A-K and A-Q losing to an A-10, but I did not mind that, I knew that after the rebuy was where play mattered, and I do believe that in rebuy tournaments, “tight is right” is the best way to win them. Many players afterwards fail to […]

Each of the variants of poker has its own set of rules. In order to play well, you need to be very knowledgeable in poker rules as well as the jargon associated with the game. Since the two most popular poker games are Texas Hold’Em and Omaha, these are the games for which you should really learn the rules of the game.
Texas Hold’Em Rules
All games begin with a betting hand. Each player has to ante (or post a blind), which means they each have to place money in the pot before receiving any cards. Then players receive two cards each ace down so that the other players don’t see what the others have. In casinos, the dealer is not one of the players, but in casual games players take turns being the dealer. The players look at the cards and the first round of betting begins. Players who feel they […]
