Here’s a quick excerpt
I am sitting outside, underneath the gazebo. It sounds like rain is tapping on the roof, but I am protected nicely. S is off, playing poker tonight. The kids went to sleep in minutes and the house is all tidy. It has been a good day all around.
I was thinking though, that when I was a teenager, I used to think that I would never be able to live on my own and be a real adult. I was afraid of everything. I used to double and triple check the locks and windows. Okay, I sort of still do that, but I am able to fall asleep all by myself without having to lock myself into my room. I am growing up. I am confident about being on my own and even better at being the adult my kids need.
