Gambling (In Moderation, Of Course) is Never Not Fun

So like I was saying in my last post, I went ahead and put a couple of small wagers on the Texans for this upcoming season (winning more than 8.5 games, making the playoffs, & winning the AFC South) on Bodog. I feel fairly confident about all of them. (Winning the AFC South is probably my biggest worry, but like I said, I didn’t bet that much so if they don’t win it it’s not a big deal.) Unless Matt Schaub’s arm falls off. Then I’m screwed.
And to top it all off, today, after ~5 years of playing poker online at PokerStars.com, I’m playing in my very first every WCOOP event (#3). A couple of months ago, I received a Step 3 ticket from PokerStars as a prize for a contest they had on twitter. (All you had to do was retweet them and you were entered into the contest.) [...]

First cash out failed

I should have cashed out some money today, but I haven’t verified my account yet, so I can’t do withdraws.
Not a big problem, I’ll cash out  more next sunday.
Anyway this is my graph for the first week of September:

This plus €55 of unlocked bonus puts my overall profit to €170.
In the next few days I’ll buy a subscription at HUSNG.com, I think the three-month standard subscription. Watching those videos will help me to grow up my game.
I think the easiest ways I have right now to win more are:

Avoid starting a game when I’m short on time. (I found myself pushing a lot wider just because I’m late for something)
Take a break when I’m on a losing streak, a simple walk with my dog should work.

Speaking about pure poker strategy I think I’m probably a bit too loose in position in the early levels. I’m not sure about that, [...]

The Beginning or The End

So I have been playing online poker seriously for almost a year now, seems like so much longer, shit. Anyways I quit working a “real” job about two months ago to play online poker professionally. I had some family medical emergencies that I had to help pay for recently , along with monthly bills, this puts me where I am at now. I just cashed out 3k to pay for bills this month leaving me with exactly $84.72 in an online poker account. The challenge is to run this miniature bankroll into a sizable bankroll that I can sustain my living off of. This is a pretty ridiculous challenge I will be putting myself through, but I know I can do it. I will be trying to put in around 10k hands a day, 7 days a week starting at 5NL, putting in this much volume, winnings+rakeback I think I [...]

Patience, Patience, Patience

This is definitely something I need to work on in my game and I really need to read up on some type of Zen mindset at the poker table.  Does anybody have any recommendations for maintaining patience at the poker table?  The problem I deal with most is trying to force the action in hands in which players show weakness but refuse to fold their middle and bottom pairs for no apparent reason at all.
It is not quite tilt and it is no chasing any losses.  It is just aggression that is poorly timed.  The more I play, the less fearful I become of putting the bets out to steal the pots.  However, when I get called here and there, the chunks out of my stack make me less and less fearful at the table to other players.  Additionally, I think I take into account my image at the table [...]

Cold As Ice

Definitely have been running ice cold lately and my roll is wearing thin to show for it. I think every day I consider giving up the game, but as most of us know, it is something that runs deep inside of us. I’ve taken two consecutive week breaks to re-evaluate my game. However, as I’ve read many people post, often the breaks hurt you more than they help. I think I need to just try to play more and play through it. Tough to do though when you are only playing with a few buy-ins left in your roll. Also, as I have previously mentioned, the jumps between 1/3 and 2/5 is causing me major issues because I struggle to play straight ABC in 1/3 and end up costing myself more money in that game. In 2/5, FPS (fancy play syndrome) gets me [...]

Had a really good game today. I played almost all of my hands really well, and always folded when I should’ve. I played exceptionally well on some hands and moderately well on most.
Point to note- there was one hand where I clearly had the best hand, and I was too aggressive and scared everyone away. I should’ve slow-played it to milk them dry. Lesson learnt!
Game 1: Lost $10
Game 2: Lost $10
Game 3: Made $4.50

Run Hot! Leaks.

Here’s a quick excerpt

I finally got some run hot last night! I was really energized by going out last night and watching the movie Expandables. It was a really good guy flick with horrible acting. I really like how it was about the brotherhood of guys, without women. How women would come and go in ones life but what was important was achieving something in life. A lot of my favorite actors where in that movie. Jonathan Stamos is definitely a guy’s guy . Ever since transporter I’ve appreciated his action and suave. Back to the point of achieving your dreams. I really need to be least lazy as possible, that involves going to the gym, poker and work! I can not slow down or get complacent. I must continue to strive to put my best foot forward if I want to succeed on this goal I have put in front of [...]
