Proximity Data Distribution - Learns a Poker Face!

Here’s a quick excerpt
At last proximity data distribution has come of age. With our Media Box it’s easy to view video either directly over a WiFi connection to the internet or downloaded direct to you cell phone.
In 2006 when Bluetooth transmissions were still relatively new Mark A. Todd was working with Serious Fun Events in the UK. Mark produced a short series of videos to teach people how to play the very popular game of Texas Hold’em poker. These videos were compressed to *.3gp and transmitted to cell phones as a marketing tool.
The transmission time was lengthy but people were patient because they wanted to keep a copy of the video and pass it onto other players. Now transmission times are much quicker with the WiFi connection on the Media Box. Plus with the introduction of Bluetooth V3 the transmission speed of data sent by Bluetooth is 8 X faster.
Mobile video adverts are [...]

Good night, rough new day.

Here’s a quick excerpt
Played last night for about 7 hours and banked a solid $1. I wasn’t multitabling a whole lot last night because I haven’t played these low stakes in a while and I wanted to make sure I played winning poker consistently; and, since I’m playing low stakes, I don’t get that great of a payout.
I had a pretty good night last night, even though my rate wasn’t good… at all. Today is a different story. I cannot tell you how pissed off I am from the crap I’ve dealt with today. If I had a dollar for every time that I raised 4x BB and the guy directly behind me reraises all in.. well, I wouldn’t be rich, but I could go eat a nice meal for free.
They’d raise all in, 3 guys behind them would call.. and here I am, sitting with a mid pocket pair and having to [...]

Health Care Sickness

Here’s a quick excerpt
America’s Health Care system is sick! Obama’s proposals don’t do much to reign in the insurance company predatory practices, and the Republican’s seem intent on protecting the most toxic monoploy in the “civilized” world.
Maybe I will move to Monaco or Cannes. I can get health care and poker is legal while predatory health insurance is not.

Who Needs Technology?

Here’s a quick excerpt
This week, we implemented a major change in the Palmer house. Taking inspiration from a podcast series by Craig Groeschel on scheduling margin, we implemented Technology Free Tuesdays (and Thursdays) or as we call it: TFT. The rules are simple: No TV, video games, blackberrys, computers, iPods, etc… after 5pm on Tuesdays & Thursdays. That time is now reserved for what I call “hard core family time”.
Needless to say, I got pretty much the reaction I expected from the kids: horrified looks, fervent protests, pleading, bargaining…well you get the idea. To my surprise however, by the time Tuesday rolled around they were actually excited about it. We cooked a big meal and had a blast. The only one who had a hard time with the rules was me. The kids made me leave my “crackberry” on my dresser because I kept wanting to twitter about what we were doing!
Last night the kids were really getting [...]

Online Poker, Night One

Starting the challenge tonight. I’ll update my progress on here. Starting out with $25 in the bankroll, which means that I can play up to $0.60 tournaments and, currently, no cash games. (The first limit of cash games is $0.01/$0.02 and you have to buy in with $2. I don’t currently have 20 buy-ins ($40), so I can’t play them.)
So, I jumped into 2 of the $0.25 tournaments since PStars doesn’t have any tournaments between $0.25 and $0.60. One is a 90 man SNG, the other is a 45 man SNG. I’ll stay at these levels until I get above $40, at which point I will progress to the $1 tournaments.
I’m going to try to provide nightly updates. I’ll be tracking my progress using an excellent bankroll spreadsheet at flopturnriver. This website also has useful, free information on it concerning bankroll management, for those that don’t know much about it.

Cruise Control
Willy J wrote an interesting post today on
Here’s a quick excerpt
I have taken many cruises over the last ten years and every boat that I have sailed on has had an onboard casino. The latest cruise was a quick three day cruise from Los Angeles to Ensenada and back.
The casino on the ship now features Texas hold’em. I was surprised to hear an announcement for a $5-10 limit hold’em game. I could not find a poker table and after some serious looking I asked for help only to find the game being dealt on a blackjack table.
I put my name on the list and staked out a good vantage point to watch the action from. The game was dealt seven handed with the players being tightly squeezed around the blackjack table. The dealer button seemed to be moving correctly and the players were providing plenty of action. There was no drop slot so the dealer just swept the rake into [...]
