The Buy-in is now only $100!! And no, we didn’t lower because of lack of interest or because we didn’t think there would be enough people. We lowered so that as many of our fans could join us as possible.

Online poker makes me happy… on the inside.

This blog is going to be updated my beginner journey through the world of Online Poker. What I’m going to attempt to do is turn $25 into $1000. (Start small ).
I’ve been playing on PokerStars on and off for the past year and managed to do pretty well, even though, in the end.. I have not much to show for it. Currently, my OPR (officialpokerrankings.com) Rank is at 96.7% and 58,856 of 1,727,304. While that rank is pretty insignificant to a lot of people, it means a pretty good bit to me. I just started playing this year and I’ve managed to get within the top 4% of players on PokerStars.
I followed both Boku87 challenges over the last few years and it’s pretty impressive what that joker can do with $5. I’m trying to mimic that type of challenge, except on a small scale since I’m only a [...]

Bike Messenger Days

Pull up a chair and let ol’ Uncle Ace tell you a story about the Good Old Days back in 1983….
Humor is a funny thing (no pun intended). For example, one of the funniest things I ever saw in real life is never funny when I tell it to people. The story always just comes across as cruel or banal or stupid. Here, I’ll prove it to you:
It was 1983 and I was deep into my career as a fabulous San Francisco bike messenger. Now, bike messengers are a breed apart. They’re a lot like street people, with the crucial difference that bike messengers are still young and strong, and they pay their rent BEFORE they buy their drugs. And many of them would indeed have fabulous careers waiting for them as homeless street people as soon as they ran out of energy, or got drunk and [...]

Tim Byrd, the Byrdman, feature interview
Willy J wrote an interesting post today on
Here’s a quick excerpt
“Byrd is the unknown A-list DJ,” says New York media maven, Leroy Jones. “No, he doesn’t work with a bag on his head, but he’s among the best DJs. He’s missing from top ten lists, too often.”
“Tim Byrd went one-for-one with ‘Cousin Brucie,’ for years,” says Jones, “but when someone thinks of New York City radio, she or he overlooks Byrd. The only radio sin Byrd committed is not working Los Angeles.
“Working LA, with freedom, he’d give The Real Don Steele a run. I know it’s a sacrilege to say any DJ is as good as was Steele,” says Jones. “Yet, Byrd is in that league, with Rich ‘Brother” Robin, Ken ‘Beaver Cleaver’ Levine” and maybe one or two other LARPs.
Comments about the radio work of Tim “Byrdman” Byrd seem deep in [...]

Polar Coordinate now a Unibet affiliate

Here’s a quick excerpt
Polar Coordinate is happy to announce that we are now formerly an affiliate of Unibet.
Why you might ask? Well, I enjoy a friendly game of poker, but I do not have a lot of money to spend. At Unibet, which I have used for sportsbetting for several years, (with a tidy profit I might ask), there is plenty of freeroll tournaments with cash prizes. If you do not know what a freeroll is, it is basically a poker tournament where the buy in, in other words the sum you must pay to join the tournament, is 0, nil, zero, nothing. And to be honest, if you can’t get in the money in a free-roll, why would you spend hard earned cash to compete in other tournaments?
Add to that the fact that Unibet is the most stable connection I have experienced of all the web-poker sites I [...]

Becoming As Lucky As The Irish: 3 Essential Elements
Willy J wrote an interesting post today on
Here’s a quick excerpt
Four leaf clovers are NOT a business/life strategy (credit: http://sarahsnodgrass.com/blog/)
Being half-Irish, I couldn’t go without posting on luck on a day like today
Luck is typically a very difficult subject to write about, considering it’s quite hard to define when somebody has gotten “lucky”. An example of this is a small business that starts up one year, and within 12 months, ends up with tons of venture capital, media exposure, high profit margins; in other words, an atypical experience in a sea of failure and struggle.
Did they truly get lucky, by having the right people stumble across their business, while they were in a really generous mood? Or was there a difference in their approach that led to success, doing what the triumphant 10% do, while 90% wallow in obscurity?
Well, as the great philosopher Abraham Simpson once said “A little from Column A, a little from Column B.”
Yes, while there is [...]
